My Approach to Therapy
Therapy can be a valuable practice in deepening your relationship to your life: your story, your growth, your capacity to enjoy and make meaning of your world. I operate from an anti-oppressive framework and believe that our individual suffering cannot be separated from the broader political, economic, and social structures that harm us. This lens is foundational to how I understand and work with mental health issues and establish a container for healing. In the therapeutic space, my aim is to provide compassionate support & emotional attunement to clients so that they may develop self-compassion & attunement to themselves. I view therapy as a collaboration, and an investment of time, energy, and trust. Together we can build on your existing skills and knowledge as well as identify and incorporate new strategies for coping and healing. Using a strengths-based relational approach, we can work to take stock of the difficulties & struggles you experience, and explore your goals, values, and vision for leading a fulfilling life.
How & Who I Work With
I draw from a variety of theories and modalities to inform my work: psychodynamic therapy, attachment theory, somatic awareness, polyvagal theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Lifespan Integration therapy, DBT, and motivational interviewing. I invite feedback and ongoing dialogue about how therapy is going. I enjoy helping clients learn skills and build practices for distress tolerance, direct communication, boundary setting, and nervous system regulation. In addition to being a space to process trauma & grief, I also firmly believe that therapy should make room for celebration & play.
I enjoy working with people of all identities and backgrounds. Some areas I feel particularly passionate about & have experience working with include:
